Bring luxury to bath time

Most people wish for a bigger bathroom, but it is not the size of the room or the budget that can transform a small, oddly-shaped bathroom. Some creative interior ideas can lead to something quite spectacular.

Luxurious spa bathrooms and accessories are a big trend for 2007. The modern style is a natural retreat for pampering or lounging in the bath with a good book. The Bath Connection has a fantastic range of suites, furniture and accessories on show in St Albans.

So, how exactly can a bathroom be modernised into a luxurious place reminiscent of a spa? Depending on the state of your current bathroom, acquiring a new suite may be the first step to redecorating the space. The Bath Connection offers popular suites by Sottini and Duravit among others. You could opt for a contemporary look infused with an antique touch for romance, or deep-set baths for blissful comfort. For the fearless, mixing styles is a current trend, otherwise, chose a bathroom design that will not become unfashionable too quickly and lose its appeal. No space for that dream spa in your house? How about a whirlpool bath, a steam shower or, for maximum impact, a massage shower cabin?

Decorate the bathroom in light, plain colours to create the illusion of size. Use bright colours for accessories and towels, but select neutrals on walls and tiles for a calm atmosphere. See-through and reflective surfaces will complement modern, light decor.

Vanities add glamour to bathrooms and it is important to match the style of your bathroom suite. In very small bathrooms, a vanity can be replaced by a pedestal or wall-mounted sink to keep floor space. Mirrors and lighting instantly make a room look larger and glamorous, Frameless mirrors mounted on the walls or the ceiling, endorsed by accent lighting deliver the genuine impression of an ultra-modern home spa.

To complete the look you’ll need a few additional accessories, heated towel rails, modern taps, plants, candles, lamps, and even a bathroom TV or a bathroom radio-CD-MP3-player. For absolute luxury a floor-warming system means no more chills on winter mornings.

If the bathroom is not a place where you spend a lot of time and therefore you do not see the need to improve, think again. Whether or not you are contemplating a move now, as a long-term investment it is worth spending time and money to lift a bathroom to a quality that will impress potential buyers. It is a well-known fact that kitchens and bathrooms often make or break a property deal.
