An incredible music festival for all the family will be taking place in Harpenden on Saturday 23rd June as Sir John Lawes and Manland schools launch the very first Festival on the Field.

The event is taking place on the Sir John Lawes playing field which is going to be transformed into an exciting music venue for a whole afternoon and evening of live acts by four of Britains leading tribute bands - Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Queen - as well as performances by the talented young musicians and singers of Sir John Lawes and Manland Primary schools.

The climax of the evening will be the performances by the ultimate Queen tribute band, Killer Queen, who have recently performed to a crowd of 30,000 in Brussels.

The event will also feature childrens entertainment including a bouncy castle, climbing walls and magicians as well as a festival market and food outlets including hog roast, pizzas and Chinese noodles.

The Festival on the Field will help raise funds for much-needed facilities for both Sir John Lawes and Manland Primary school.

Here is what the ticket money will help make possible:

  • The complete refurbishment of SJLs main hall and stage including the installation of high quality lighting and sound equipment; the hall is used constantly for productions, sports events, assemblies and outside community events and has not been modernised for around 35 years.

  • The purchase of a mini-bus with facilities for the disabled that can be used to take students on excursions and sports trips.

  • The review of current ICT facilities at Manland Primary School to include the purchase and installation of high quality equipment that is suitable for children and which will provide them with the very best grounding in ICT.

The event has been organised by the SJL and Manland School Associations. Starting at 1pmit will provide nearly nine hours of high quality entertainment before closing its doors at 10pm.

Tickets are on sale from 27th February. An early bird discount is available until 31st March. More information about the acts and ticket prices is availableat
