Following the success of last years event, The Harlequin will host the Young Enterprise Annual Trade Fair on Saturday, January 15th.

The Trade Fair welcomes 20 student businesses to compete for sales in the bustling shopping centre, selling everything from grow-your-own-plant kits to vintage accessories. The students who come from 10 different Watford secondary schools will set up on the Lower Mall from 9am to 6pm outside John Lewis.

The student businesses are set up through Young Enterprise, the UKs leading business and enterprise education charity. The charity runs various programmes, during which students learn about business first-hand by running a real company themselves.

They elect a board of directors, raise share capital, and market and finance a product or service of their own choice. At the end of the year they liquidate the company and present a report and accounts.

Katy Burke, Regional Programme Manager for the Young Enterprise is thrilled that the fair will return to The Harlequin. She said, 'The Young Enterprise scheme gives local youths the chance to get a real feel for business and the skills needed to run and maintain a successful company.

'The Harlequin has supported this scheme for many years giving Watford youngsters a great opportunity to be active in the local community whilst getting invaluable work experience that is great for their CVs.'

The Harlequins Marketing Manager, Erin Walsh, commented, 'The Harlequin is thrilled to host the Young Enterprise Trade Fair. The Fair has been a huge success in previous years, it is a great chance for the students to test their business skills and our shoppers get to see and buy their fabulous products.'

The Harlequin shopping centre is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Thursdays 9amto 9pm, Saturdays 9amto 7pm and 11am to 5pm on Sundays. There are over 140 stores, including many of your favourite high-street names, plus special one-off stores.
