Sharon takes a fun cake-making class in Bushey, plus win a day’s cake decorating worth £95

Cakes of Good Taste is renowned for making exquisite bespoke cakes. Its creations are made by a long-standing experienced team of cake makers and decorators and I was fortunate to be invited on one of their courses on hand-painted cake decorating.

The Bushey Heath cake shop has a new teaching studio as well as a first-rate commercial kitchen where classes are held. On the day I visited, keen amateurs were being taught by the talented Sarah Jones of the Chocolate Strawberry.

Sarah is one of several guest tutors that Susan Halil, owner of Cakes of Good Taste, has invited. There will be more over the coming months covering a wide range of decorating skills and other techniques.

The kitchens regularly host a range of sugar-craft courses too. Susan says the popularity of these has grown substantially over recent years, with courses regularly full weeks before they start.

Cakes of Good Taste is a hub for party organisers, sugar craft and the cake-making community, with a full range of partyware and cake-making accessories available instore or online.

Susan and Sarah Jones are offering Hertfordshire Life readers the chance to kick off the new year with a new skill – a ‘Country Garden’ hand-painting cake course worth £95. Susan says the class is suitable for all, from beginners to experienced professionals. If it’s anything like my course – a relaxing, fun day out with a fab group of ladies and a supportive tutor who encourages the artist within – then you’ll have a great time.

For your chance to win the Country Garden hand-painting cake course, email ‘Cake course’ to competitions@hertfordshirelife.co.uk including your full name, address and contact number by January 31.
