Barry Allsuch from Barry Allsuch Estate Agents in Radlett, Hertfordshire

Barry Allsuch from Barry Allsuch Estate Agents in Radlett on footballers and what the general election means for the local property market.

How long have you been based in Radlett
We are the longest established agents in Radlett having first opened our office in 1977 .Together with our Elstree branch we are proud to be able to cover Radlett, Porters Park , Shenley, Elstree, Arkley, Borehamwood, Letchmore Heath, Aldenham, Bushey, Bushey Heath, Stanmore, Bricket Wood, Park Street & surrounding areas

What do you like about working in these areas?
I like the variety of customers we do business with, such as footballers, especially Arsenal which I greatly enjoy. I would say that in the region of 80% of our business comes from previous clients and through recommendations. Having been around over 30 years it is hardly surprising, but nevertheless great to witness.

How has 2009 been for you?
After the lacklustre property market of 2008 I am prepared to say that this year was the year of a slow but sticky recovery for the local residential property market.
We ended the year well with three sales on Shenley Hill, three in Loom Lane and many other addresses in Radlett and Elstree.
The sale which gave me the most satisfaction was that of a superb contemporary property just off The Warren. The client was my old friend former Arsenal and Cameroon International Lauren, Lauren has been a great friend of the company even after he transferred to Portsmouth. He has now decided to move his young family to Spain ,we wish him, Monica and his children all the best for the future.
Our rentals department have also had an exceptionally good year and we have had to expand this department and recruit extra staff
We have been producing, for several years, our own property Newspaper called Horizons which celebrated its 100th edition this year.
Overall, the professionalism, integrity, hard work and good humour have all paid there part in making my company a legend and one of the areas premier agents. Long may it continue.

Are you optimistic for the New Year and what are your plans?
What are my predictions for the New Year? Well, I have to take into consideration there will be a general election no later than May. Traditionally around general election times people wait to see what is going to happen, but the election will coincide with the busy spring market, so it may well be hopefully business as usual.
It is still a little premature, but our clients Oakbridge Homes will be starting in 2010 to build 3 executive properties in Aldenham Avenue. We have a long a fruitful relationship with Oakbridge Homes, their M.D, Martin Hemmings, is something of a perfectionist and a delight to work with. His specifications are always top drawer and his properties are always delivered on time offering excellent value at the top end of the market.

Whats the typical property you have on your books at present?
We have a wide range of very unique properties but a typical property is a 4/5 bed detached with a good garden circa 1,000,000.

Final Word
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has helped 2009 be a record year in the history of Barry Allsuch & Co.
