The partnership, which aims to grow the game of golf in the county, has arranged free taster sessions at 20 venues across Hertfordshire.

Theyre open to all-comers aged 16 and over, who are guaranteed a warm welcome from existing golfers and professional, friendly coaching. The newcomers will be taught in small groups of no more than 10 and offered opportunities to follow-up with further activities. All equipment will be provided.

Ben Hartfield, the county development officer, says,'We are hoping hundreds of people will take up our offer and discover that golf is great fun and a game which can be played by people from all backgrounds and of all ages and abilities.'

The two-hour sessions on Saturday, 9th April and Sunday, 10th April will take place at clubs which have won the national GolfMark award or which are working towards it. GolfMark recognises clubs which are junior and beginner-friendly.

The venues are: Letchworth, Knebworth, Whipsnade Park, Redbourn, Harpenden Common, Aldwickbury Park, Harpenden, Little Hay, Porters Park, Batchworth Park, Manor of Groves, Mill Green, Brickendon Grange, The Hertfordshire, Bishops Stortford, East Herts and Old Fold Manor Golf Clubs plus Top Golf, Watford.

The introductory weekend will coincide with the climax of the first golfing Major of the season, the US Masters at Augusta, Georgia.

Places at each session must be pre-booked by emailing office@hertsgolfunion.com or by calling 08081 682333.
