Invited guests joined Hertfordshire Life editor Clare Bourke and advertisement manager Liz Giroud for a spectacular lunch at Brocket Hall in Welwyn on November 17. The intimate group of 40 enjoyed welcome drinks in the hall while admiring the view across Broadwater Lake before sitting down to a three-course meal specially prepared by chefs Drew Knight and Pete Webster. On the menu was risotto of butternut squash with goats cheese mousse and hazelnut velout; slow roast rump of beef with potato fondant, cauliflower gratin and shallot jus; and a dessert of lemon bakewell with blueberry compte and honey and yoghurt ice cream. Guests dined in the stunning Ballroom, furnished by the flamboyant first Lord Melbourne to entertain royalty, around The Prime Ministers dining table, said to be the second oldest and longest in England, the first being at Windsor Castle. After lunch guests were given a tour of the hall by Estate Marketing Coordinator Lauren Caisley.
