How do you see Watford in the future?

How do you see Watford in the future?

There's still time to have your say on the future development of Watford

Watford Borough Council explains how you can help shape the town's future

Over the last few years we have been asking you what Watford should be like to live and work in by 2031.

We have used your feedback, along with information from evidence base studies to produce a Core Strategy - a document which sets out our vision for the town. It explains how we hope to meet the future needs of Watford, looking at issues like housing, green spaces, transport links and local services.

Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said, 'I would really encourage everyone to get involved with this consultation. I know from speaking to residents how important things like affordable homes, good employment opportunities and leisure facilities are. It couldnt be easier to let us know what you think, especially if you have access to a computer.'

Before we submit this Core Strategy for independent examination, we would like to see what you think about it. The consultation runs for six weeks from today, Wednesday 18 May until Wednesday 29 June 2011 and you are invited to comment on whether you think the policies in the strategy are appropriate and effective.

If you have internet access, the easiest way to do this is by using our online consultation tool at: www.ldf.watford.gov.uk . You will be able to read the document, save comments as you go along and review them before submitting. Making your comments in this way reduces the time and cost of recording your comments, meaning that we can focus on considering your views.

Colour reference copies of the Core Strategy and supporting documents will also be available at the Town Hall Customer Service Centre, Watford Central and Watford North Libraries. Black and white copies can be made available on request for a small charge.

More information about the Core Strategy, including details of previous consultations and the evidence base is available on the council website at www.watford.gov.uk/ldf. You can also contact the Planning Policy team by email at strategy@watford.gov.uk or phone us on tel: 01923 278263.

Once all comments have been made and considered, the Core Strategy will be formally submitted for examination by an independent inspector. The examination is likely to take place during spring 2012.
