More than 100 members of North Herts Farmers welcomed guest speaker MP Jim Paice, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food, at their AGM on November 21 at Hanbury Manor Hotel, Ware. North Herts Farmers was created in 1962, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, and has about 400 members in and around Herts, Beds, Bucks, Cambs and Essex. It was set up by farmers to supply its farming members with goods/services at preferential prices whilst maintaining a high quality of service. The group firmly believes in earning the respect of its members, and suppliers, rather than demanding it and supplies members with everything from fuel and readymix, to seed and fertiliser. The meeting was attended by Chairman Alan Sapsed, who farms at Knebworth and has been involved with the running of the group since day one, Ross Miller who farms at Streatley, near Luton, and general manager Alastair Pawsey.
