The Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge swings into action in March and the organisers are hoping to attract more local clubs to make the event the biggest and best yet.

So far 27 clubs have signed up and at least two more clubs are being sought before the tournament tees off on Saturday 27th March at Bishops Stortford Golf Club.

Now in its fifth year, the Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge involves Stableford mens and ladies heats at participating clubs with the winners progressing to a Grand Final. The climax of this years competition takes place at Hanbury Manor on Monday 12th September.

The top three players also qualify to represent Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire in the MercedesTrophy, the worlds largest amateur golf tournament. They compete in a regional final for a place in the UK Final, which takes place at the home of golf St Andrews in Scotland.

In 2009, Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge winner Sam Jones, from Chesfield Downs Golf Club, progressed from the UK Final to represent the motor manufacturers UK team in the World Final in Stuttgart, where he finished runner-up.

'The Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge has been a phenomenal success and has now become an established and enjoyable fixture on the calendar of golf clubs across the county,' said Mark Whitworth, Group Marketing & CRM Manager.

'We have had a staggering 4,329 entries since the competition began, which from a business perspective, has provided us with an excellent opportunity to meet prospective customers and raise awareness of our retailers in Bishops Stortford, Hertford and Stevenage for those golfers who already drive Mercedes-Benz, both for their servicing and future purchases.'
