STAR Wars Stormtroopers were among famous faces and characters who returned to Hertfordshire to celebrate the areas unique television and film heritage.

In a bid to bring the local history to a much wider audience, project First Impressions has helped transform Elstree and Borehamwood stations entrance and beyond.

Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, R2D2 and an army of Stormtroopers joined actress Barbara Windsor to celebrate the works to enhance the town centre and peoples first impressions

Star Wars is one of many feature films made at Elstree Studios, which is owned by Hertsmere Borough Council.

Work has included Hollywood-style stars being placed in the pavement outside the station, banners on lampposts which promote the towns film history and plaques honouring past and present actors. Residents and visitors can follow the trail from the station to the studios.

EastEnders is filmed at Elstree Stuidos and Barbara Windsor was there to unveil her own plaque at the station while actor Burt Kwouk who played Kato in the Pink Panther films unveiled one of the stars for his co-star, the late Peter Sellers.
