Calling all women for Midnight Walk

GROVE House Hospice is gearing up for its second annual Midnight Walk and plans to make this one bigger and better.
Last year’s event raised £40,000 for the St Albans-based hospice but this year the aim is to raise £100,000 by encouraging 1,000 women to take part.
The sponsored walk, starting at midnight, will take place on Saturday June 28. It begins at St Michael’s Parish Centre on the edge of Verulamium Park and is a ten-mile circular route around the streets of St Albans.
The Midnight Walk is a women only event and a perfect opportunity in which to join together with friends, colleagues and family members across the generations alongside 1,000 other women.
Paul Parrish, fundraising director for Grove House, said, ‘The Midnight Walk was one of the highlights of 2007. Everyone seemed to be having such fun, and the feeling of solidarity amongst the women taking part was fantastic. As one of the few men there I felt quite jealous that I wasn’t allowed to walk. This is what good fundraising is about, people having fun whilst helping to change the community they live in.’

A Midnight Walk Open Day is being held on May 10 at Christopher Place, St Albans, from from noon to 4pm. there will be lots of discounts being offered by the shops and a free goodie bag which will include a trial gym pass and a free foot massage.
