What a catch
I don’t know whether the following would be of interest, but on Wednesday, October 10, a sparrowhawk caught a pigeon in my garden and proceeded to devour it. I took some photographs of the bird which were very successful.
My garden is situated in Green Lane, Bovingdon. The sparrowhawk suddenly appeared on our patio with the pigeon between its claws. It was on the patio for nearly two hours while it devoured its tea and nothing seemed to disturb it.
Two of the photographs are taken from the rear of the house and I then cropped the photos for the close ups. I have never experienced such a situation with birds in my garden before but this was something special.
I hope the photographs are of interest to other readers.

Bovingdon

Showing off our beautiful county
Having recently retired and decided to take up my old hobby of photography again, I was rather pleased with this shot taken earlier this summer by the River Lea at Folly Island, Hertford.
This particular area can be included as a short diversion from the walk down the Lea Valley path.
It was taken on Fujichrome Sensia Slide Film and reproduced on a Fuji image CD from which this copy was taken.
I would consider it an honour if you were to use it in Hertfordshire Life.

Hoddesdon
