SMALL local growers of great tasting apples and pears are being sought by specialist food shop, The English Grocer in Buntingford.
Shop owner Marion Durose says, 'We want to sell locally grown apples and pears because they will taste ten times better than fruit which has been imported from around the globe. A fantastic variety of superb apples and pears are grown in our region - and we want to have them for our shop.'
The shop is also keen to hear from small local food producers of every type. Many products come from within ten miles of the shop and it stocks only the very best of British fruit and vegetables picked right at the peak of the season.
Marion explains, 'Small scale food producers, who never have neither the means nor the desire to run a factory, are often unable to find an outlet for their products. We believe Britain is in danger of losing some of its finest, oldest, traditional dishes and food skills because of this so our entire shop is dedicated to stocking as much locally produced fruit and vegetables as possible.'
