An award-winning artisan sausage maker is offering prime bangers with a difference in Bishop’s Stortford

I‘ve discovered a secret in the heart of Bishop’s Stortford. It’s the Secret Sausage Shop factory. Banish ideas of an ordinary factory, this is a multi-award-winning artisan outlet, creating mouth-watering bangers with a difference. From their Sage of Henham and Old Smokey to the award-winning Hog Roast, with BBQ and picnic season upon us why not give them a try? You will not be disappointed.

Expert Stephen Plume, dubbed the Sausage King in the national press, has given his royal seal of approval to the Hog Roast sausages. The company also received praise from visitors to the Great Framlingham Sausage Festival.

Butcher James Goodchild believes the secret to a good sausage is only using the whole shoulder of pork. Taking the time, energy and passion to bone out these cuts sourced from Stevens Farm in Essex makes his sausages 100 per cent pork. Fine herbs and spices are then added (gluten-free is an option too). James recommends that because they are so meaty they should be cooked in the oven (don’t prick them) or on a BBQ ‘slow and low’, as they need a good cook through.

The outlet on Peek Business Centre is open to the public. You can even pre-order and James will make them up. James is in the process of removing all plastic from the business, so sausages come wrapped in paper like Jones the butcher did in Dad’s Army. The factory is EC approved and offers full traceability.
