Hertfordshire's beer scene is booming, according to the Campaign for Real Ale's newly-published Good Beer Guide 2020. The book lists 66 pubs in the county that have passed inspection for inclusion, of which 19 are new, plus 21 breweries, including newcomers The Belgian Brewer of Bishop's Stortford and Hitchin Brewery.
Among the pubs, the guide makes special mention of The Red Lion in Preston, the first community-owned pub in Britain, as well as listing all those the editors of the guide consider the very best places to find a great pint in the county.
CAMRA described the guide, which reviews more than 4,500 pubs across the UK and is compiled by thousands of independent volunteers, as 'the definitive beer drinkers' guide to the UK's breweries, their ales, and the best outlets to find them in across the country. Inclusion is dependent only on merit, not on payment'.
The 47th edition of the guide (RRP £15.99) is available from the CAMRA website and good booksellers.
