This Hertfordshire distillery has won the prestigious award at the 2019 World’s Best Martini Challenge

James Bond, eat your heart out. The world’s best martini comes from Hertfordshire, and that’s official. Kate and Ben Marston of Puddingstone Distillery near Tring, the home of Campfire Gin, carried off the top trophy at the 2019 World’s Best Martini Challenge, beating four finalists and the 2018 winner in the process.

The winning recipe included hand-stamped orange peel flowers soaked for 10 hours in Carpano Antica Formula rosso vermouth. Said Kate, ‘We’ve always favoured a simple bone dry martini recipe made with Campfire, but we added a slight tweak to our usual ratios and garnish for a little more depth to the flavour profile.’
