Letchworth Garden City Town Centre is set to become a food lover's paradise as the town prepares for the forthcoming Food and Garden Festival.

Letchworth Garden City Town Centre is set to become a food lover's paradise as the town prepares for the forthcoming Food and Garden Festival.

Taking place on the weekend of the 19th and 20th May the town centre will become home to over 50 stallholders selling locally reared meat, home baked cakes and cookies, homemade preserves, speciality cheeses, oils, spicy condiments and sauces, cider and beer as well as local fruit and vegetables.

Town Centre Manager and Festival organiser Lee Boswell said, Its fantastic that weve attracted so many quality stallholders to the Festival. Many of our regular Letchworth Farmers Market favourites are also joining us for the Festival weekend so it's a great chance to take advantage of the extended trading hours which are from 10am to 4pm on both days.

With our tasty selection of hot and cold food concessions lining the streets offering tapas, Caribbean specialities, crepes, BBQ burgers and sausages, Thai and even ice cream no one will have to go home hungry.

Getting their green fingers mucky and helping to bolster the gardening theme of the Festival are a team from Arch Community Group. Putting together a vibrant display garden for the Festival has been a challenge under the current weather conditions but the garden which showcases how to grow fruit, vegetables and more traditional plants side by side will be an added Festival attraction.

Joining Arch will be Willian-based Pioneer Nursery. The team from Pioneer will be selling home-grown shrubs, seedlings and herbs as well as plants with specific Letchworth connections.

Helping to bring all the fantastic produce alive are two demonstration kitchens with celebrity and local chefs taking to the stage to share their culinary skills. As well as Dean Edwards - a BBC Masterchef finalist and regular on ITVs Lorraine programme - the line-up includes two award winning local chefs Chris Jones, Head Chef at The Fox at Willian, and Phil Thompson, Executive Chef from the Auberge du Lac.
