Another big name has arrived in Herts with the opening of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s offshoot of River Cottage

Another big name has arrived on the Herts foodie scene with the opening at Hatfeld House of an offshoot of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage operation.

Officials say the new River Cottage Kitchen and Deli in Stable Yard will bring ‘a taste of the company’s hands-on ethical food ethos’ to the stately home’s visitors.

Levy UK, the official catering partner at Hatfield House, has worked in partnership with River Cottage to create the new restaurant and menus which celebrate regional produce and seasonal cuisine. Featured dishes include saddleback pork burger with a wholemeal oat bun; and short rib and rosemary ragu with macaroni, spinach and Ogleshield cheese. Vegetarian and vegan choices include roast cauliflower with spiced yellow split peas, or roast beetroot, Laverstoke mozzarella and orange salad.

Fearnley-Whittingstall said of the venture, ‘We are delighted to be bringing River Cottage to Hatfield House and it’s been a pleasure to develop our specialised menus for visitors.’
