Sopwell House feast launches food festival in St Albans

SOPWELL House and executive chef, James Chapman are in the spotlight as the first St Albans Food and Drink Festival is launched

SOPWELL House in St Albans and its executive chef, James Chapman, were in the spotlight last month when the first St Albans Food and Drink Festival was launched in style with a gala dinner at the hotel.
It was a fitting send-off for the event, which ran alongside the annual St Albans Festival and involved most of the bars, cafes and restaurants in the city. Features included special tastings, a Roman banquet, world food court and cocktail competition. Guests at the dinner included restaurant critic Jay Rayner talking about changing attitudes to food in Britain; food and drink festival director Phil Jones, and St Albans Festival director Jo Askham.
