The Alpine was established in 1969 by Giacomo and Marisa Harkin. They still own and run it and have been joined by their son James as executive chef and daughter Sonia as front-of-house manager.

The plans for the future follow the arrival as restaurant manager of Mark Schipper, who has moved from a similar position at Auberge du Lac. Live music is likely to be a feature and Oriental food one of the themes.
