Welwyn's Wellington sets reopening date

THE Wellington pub and restaurant in Welwyn High Street has set April as a target for reopening after it was badly damaged by fire last June.

Reconstruction of the 13th-century building began in the autumn. Managing partner Liz Gouldie said, It has been a challenging project, and the age of the building has demanded careful handling, but our aim is to return as many facets as possible to their original condition.
Meanwhile, Wellington owner Chris Gerard has completed the takeover of The Royal Oak on London Road between Codicote and Hitchin, with big changes promised for the spring.
