The county’s most prestigious business awards were officially launched at Brocket Hall, Welwyn, with a packed audience reflecting the vibrant business community in Herts

The Hertfordshire Business Awards 2015 launch was a chance for business leaders to meet and find out more about how to enter this year’s event, which is supported by Hertfordshire Life.

Guest speakers included Google’s industry head, Pete Danks (pictured), who spoke about the digital world of business and how start-ups are using technology to grow fast, while business coach Tina Dulieu explained how companies can reach their goals with the help of the government-funded Growth Accelerator.

Sponsors of the awards – now in its 19th year – also attended the event, the first in a series gearing up to the grand awards night at Knebworth House on November 26. Mark Stevens of lead sponsor KPMG said, ‘The market place in Herts is a vibrant place – there are a lot of government initiatives to help start-ups and SMEs. We believe at KPMG we have great people to help start-ups and SMEs succeed and associating ourselves with the Hertfordshire Business Awards is part of that.’

Mike Garcia, director of Welwyn GC-based Herts Beds Chiropractor, came to find out more about the Small Business of the Year category. ‘But we (also) found out about the Growth Accelerator scheme and made some good contacts, so we’ve come away with more. It’s a great opportunity to be recognised for the work we do.’
