Join 'the biggest street party in Hertfordshire' by heading along to this year's Hertfordshire County Show

THIS year sees the 126th Hertfordshire County Show take place over the Queens Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend on June 2 and 3 making it the perfect place to join the celebrations.

And with the London 2012 Olympic Games just a few weeks later, both themes have been included in the show. Show secretary Mike Harman says, We want people to come along and join us in celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. This is a very special year and we want to celebrate it so the show will have a great atmosphere this year. Being on the same weekend as the Jubilee means this will be the biggest street party in Hertfordshire.

Diamonds and gold

There is extra reason to celebrate as the Grand Ring has been renamed in honour of the Jubilee plus 2012 sees the 50th anniversary of the showground being based in Redbourn.

Mike adds, We have received Royal permission to re-name our Grand Ring to the Queens Diamond Jubilee Arena. We are honoured to receive this special permission in our own Golden Jubilee celebration we purchased the Redbourn site in 1962 making two Jubilee celebrations in the same year!

What to see

Every year the show gets bigger and better, and with the superb combination of traditional displays and demonstrations, combined with Grand Ring attractions, it offers a fun-filled day for all the family.

This years Grand Ring highlights include stunt and trick riding team the Devils Horsemen on Saturday, together with the spectacular Chariots of Fire display on Sunday. New this year on both days is the fast moving and actioned-packed Mounted Games equestrian display with five teams striving for the gold medal.

The Food Hall, Horticultural Marquee, Hertfordshire Food & Farming Marquee, together with the Shopping and Craft Marquees will offer opportunities for bargains. Plus the new Eat & Drink Hertfordshire Food Court will offer freshly cooked home-grown produce.

Value for money

The show is offering a 20% discount for advance tickets with no booking fee, and free parking. All the entertainment and demonstrations are free, which includes the All Human Circus, Punch & Judy, face painting, simulator rides, the Sheep Show plus Grand Ring attractions. Mike adds, Although the Hertfordshire County Show is already widely acknowledged as the best value for money community event in the county, we are determined to extend our growing reputation in 2012.
