A sporting ball, the second ball to be organised jointly by the Hertfordshire and Essex committees of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust was held at Parklands at Quendon Hall, Essex.

Hugo Richardson, chairman of the organising committee said, ‘This was a fantastic evening – 266 guests enjoyed an excellent meal, followed by an auction and dancing to live band 4-gig.’ We raised over £17,000 for the trust and are very grateful to all who came, to our auction prize donors and to our sponsors, Nockolds, Strutt and Parker and Hardcastle Burton’.

GWCT began in the 1930s and is a charity that researches and develops game and wildlife management techniques. It provide training and advice on how best to improve the biodiversity of the countryside.
