What’s on between Christmas and New Year in Hertfordshire?

The time between Christmas and New Year is normally about lounging on the sofa in a post-Christmas dinner daze. So we’ve gathered some great events going on in Hertfordshire to combat Twixmas lethargy
• Post-Christmas walk (Thursday 27th December)
Walk off those mince pies with a gentle guided walk around the beautiful Ashridge Estate which will be showing its finest winter hues.

• Watling Street Food Market (Sunday 30th December)
2A Greycaine Road, Watford
Watling Street Beer has teamed up with the Good Food Market to bring the Watling Street Food Market. Expect exciting food and drink vendors serving up some delicious warming treats for visitors.
• Film and Afternoon Tea at Stevenage Museum (Saturday 29th December)
St George’s Way, Stevenage
Visit Stevenage Museum for a cosy post-Christmas film and afternoon tea. Afternoon tea will include sandwiches and cakes and a glass of Prosecco.
£5 for tea, film free
• Paul Kidby: Discworld and Beyond Exhibition (runs Tuesday to Saturday until February 2019)
North Hertfordshire Museum
Fans of the late Terry Pratchett’s fantasy books will love this exhibition of Paul Kidby’s fantasy illustrations. Illustrator for many of the popular Discworld books, Paul’s work including book covers and artworks which are influenced by British folklore.
• Polar Bear Trail (until 31st December)
Natural History Museum, Tring
Children will love exploring the galleries at Tring’s Natural History Museum for the polar bear trail. There are 12 lost polar bears to find.
• New Year Street Fair (Friday 28th December to Tuesday 1st January)
Hoddesdon High Street
Hoddesdon’s High Street will be alive with rides and stalls for New Year Street Fair.
• Walk with the Alpacas (Saturday 29th December, 1pm)
Page Stud Farm Livery Stables, Dagger Lane, Elstree
For something a little bit different, take a walk with an alpaca! Pages Farm in Elstree will play host to friendly alpacas that visitors can take for a walk and have photographs taken.
£18 adults, £12 children under 16 years of age (who must be accompanied by a paying adult)
