Explore Livings Balls Park development in Hertford has been awarded Gold for Best Communal Garden/Landscape and Gold for Best Garden Landscape Brownfield Development at the New Homes Gardens Awards 2010.

Balls Park is set within 63 acres of private Grade II listed parkland known as the Balls Park Estate. The magnificent grounds feature a historic grand mansion house, which is one of the most important surviving mid-17th century houses in Hertfordshire.

In its 7th year, the New Homes Gardens Awards is a unique and ground breaking environmental initiative held in association with Express Newspapers. The awards recognise and reward excellence, innovation, creativity and sustainability in the design and construction of gardens, landscapes and outdoor space around new homes.

The judges have a strict criteria when selecting their winner, including the design concept, quality of the finish, ease of maintenance and the impact it will have on wildlife.

The judges said: The garden is innovative and imaginative in a great setting. It has a fine balance of hard and soft landscaping with a good design, excellent construction and is easy to maintain.

John Inglis, Sales and Marketing Director at Explore Living, comments: We are thrilled to have won two gold awards at the New Homes Gardens Awards 2010. We have strived to provide high specification well built homes set in picturesque landscaped grounds, offering the best of country living. To have won these awards shows we have achieved our goal.
