Four Hertfordshire roads are among the highest priced in the UK outside London according to this year's MoneySuperMarket Most and Least Expensive Streets list

Four Hertfordshire roads are among the highest priced in the UK outside London according to this year’s MoneySuperMarket Most and Least Expensive Streets list.

Ashridge Park in Berkhamsted is ninth in the list, with an average £4.35m paid by buyers over the past two years. In the top 20 are Woodfield Lane, Hatfield ranked 13th with an average value of £3.73m, Park Avenue North, Harpenden, typical price £3.7m at 14th, and Astons Road, Northwood, where the going rate is £3.5m, coming in at 17th.

What those not in the millionaire bracket will find staggering is the size of the deposit to prove your worth. To buy a house in Ashridge Park, based on the typical amount paid in 2017 and 2018, you would have to hand over 95 per cent of the price up front.

Nick Ingle, Savills director at the Harpenden office points out that the rankings can often be distorted by one or two sales which are outside the norm, although there are only a handful of houses in Ashridge Park.
