HEMEL Hempstead's towering new 22-storey Image building, voted by property professionals the best new high rise development in the UK, is a central part of the radical £360million regeneration scheme to transform the town centre by 2013.

HEMEL Hempsteads towering new 22-storey Image building, voted by property professionals the best new high rise development in the UK, is a central part of the radical 360million regeneration scheme to transform the town centre by 2013.

The massive undertaking on the London Road site gives a new lease of life to the 20-storey tower which was formerly Kodaks European headquarters. With two more levels added, the new 22-storey glass edifice that will eventually dominate the skyline will maintain the landmark for which Hemel is famous.

Once work is finished the old tower rejigged and six new blocks completed the Image complex will have become a 21st century piazza with cafes and shops grouped around landscaped gardens at ground level and, above that, offices and apartments.
Quick off the mark to buy into the scheme was the commercial manager working at the site.
Adam Corbett, 31, is employed by Dandara, the privately-owned development company responsible for the Image project. He has bought a one-bedroom apartment on the 18th floor from where his balcony will give him amazing views over the town centre to the countryside beyond.

He decided very early on that the future vision for the town had all the signs of a good investment. Having worked on the Image development since it started over two-and-a-half years ago, I have seen it go from strength to strength. I have got to know the town extremely well and there is a genuine feeling of excitement, he enthuses.
Future residents at Image will have the option to join a car club. There will also be a concierge and an exclusive bus service to ferry flat commuters to and from the station, half a mile away, at peak hours.

One bedroom apartments are priced from 150,000; two bedroom flats from 235,000.

A show flat can be viewed by appointment between 10-5 from Monday to Friday. 01442 838120 or www.livetheimage.com
