Some of the most spectacular cars in the world are coming to Blenheim Palace next month – and you can be there
SALON Privé is famous for combining supercars, style and elegance like no other event. Now in its 11th year, it has become a destination to which visitors flock to indulge in their shared passion of all things luxury and automotive.
Set against the sensational backdrop of historic Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, this prestigious luxury supercar show and Concours d’Élégance has themed events across three days.
We take a look at what’s in store for guests from September 1-3.
The bespoke event will start with the globally renowned Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance on Thursday, September 1. Salon Privé will assemble a world-leading display of cars to be judged across 10 classes, with a range of awards to be won honouring every thing from outstanding engineering to stunning exteriors. Regarded as one of the top three concours events in the world alongside Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este, the prestigious Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance is overseen by chief-judge and five-times Le Mans winner Derek Bell MBE.
Salon Privé Concours Chairman, Andrew Bagley, says: “Last year’s com petition set a very high standard, but we’re confident of improving upon that. The Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance is known for bringing the most important and impressive collection of vehicles together, and this year’s classes have enticed some outstanding entries out of hiding.”
Early entries for the concours com petition have already got car fans excited. They include an ex-works racing Porsche 911 TdF, which raced in the 1970 edition of the Tour de France and came third. Known to be the lightest-ever Porsche 911 built, it’s sure to cause quite a stir with Porsche aficionados and automotive fans alike. Joining the Porsche is a striking bright-orange Lamborghini Miura. The ‘S’ version is one of 24 right-hand-drive models ever made and has covered a mere 14,000 miles. It will compete in the 50 Years of the Lamborghini Miura class.
Continuing with the theme of elegance and glamour, Friday, September 2, will play host to haute couture and millinery on Boodles Ladies’ Day. Guests are invited to select their best hats and beautiful dresses and indulge in a day of style in this much-anticipated social occasion. Visitors are able to enjoy the amazing retail opportunities laid on by bespoke luxury jewellers Boodles.
Returning once again for another year during the high-profile supercar show is the Pirelli Prestige & Performance Competition. The global tyre brand sponsored the event for the first time last year with 5,000 people attending. The event acts as a modern-day twist on a Concours d’Elegance, with supercars from 1976 to present-day competing across eight classes. This hand-picked selection of 80 cars will be on display in Blenheim’s spectacular Great Court for judging, parades and awards ceremonies on Saturday, September 3.
Salon Privé is one of the very few events in the world that provides visitors the ability not only to see a car, but to test it and buy it during the day. The manufacturers participating in the test drive programme include Ferrari, Lexus, Morgan and Tesla. With hypercars, concept cars and prototypes on display each day and a select group of classic car specialists and restorers showcasing their work, the automotive delights of Salon Privé are endless.
To round off an amazing weekend, Salon Privé’s full hospitality package includes lobster luncheon, a complimentary bar with Pommery champagne, afternoon tea and access to all areas of Salon Privé, as well as Blenheim Palace, Park and Gardens. Salon Privé is a uniquely intimate and engaging experience that lets visitors enjoy the very best in automotive luxury in surroundings fit for royalty, away from the crowds that public shows are known for.
For those that can’t wait until September, Salon Privé has used its little black book of automotive enthusiasts to put on a series of Cars & Coffee preview events.
Held in true Salon Privé style, the meetings will enable visitors to view a hand-picked selection of best-of-breed supercars and classic cars up close and personal. Offering something for the whole family, including coffee, breakfast and exceptional cars, visitors to Cars & Coffee are also able to view Blenheim Palace’s breathtaking grounds with a Palace, Park and Gardens pass.
The final Cars & Coffee preview event before September’s three-day spectacular takes place on Sunday, August 21, and gives a glimpse of what’s in store for visitors during the Pirelli Prestige & Performance Competition.
