Cuffley-based Ellis Training held a 20th Anniversary birthday party at Ponsbourne Park De Vere Hotel on March 12 to raise money for Help for Heroes. Attended by 130 guests the celebration helped raise more than 4,000 for the Ellis Trainings 2011 fundraising campaign for their chosen charity which was added to the 2,000 already raised in January to March to achieve a total of 6,000. Between three lively music sets donated by local seven-piece band, Revival, guests were urged to dig deep for raffle tickets and bid in a silent auction for unique prizes donated by generous local businesses and Cuffley residents. Owner and founder of Ellis Training Works, John Ellis, is himself a former Sapper and was in the Royal Engineers for 10 years. He said, I will be eternally grateful for the skills they taught me which I was able to transfer to the work place. By fundraising for injured soldiers through Help for Heroes, we can hopefully make a positive contribution to their future.
