As Tring gets ready for its first Party in the Park, organisers explain the idea behind the event and what's in store
What is Party in the Park?
A musical event on May 15, sponsored by Grass Roots a business services company in Tring - in celebration of their 30th birthday. It will raise funds for the local football, cricket and rugby clubs, local schools and the local theatre. The event will also be the springboard for a Spirit of Tring initiative. The event takes place at the Grass Roots Stadium in Cow Lane, home of Tring Athletic Football Club. The idea is the brainchild of Grass Roots Chairman David Evans, who hopes to attract up to 6,000 Tring residents to the event.
What is Spirit of Tring?
Spirit of Tring is a work in progress, but the simple notion is that towns such as Tring would benefit from closer cooperation between local sports and arts based organisations, local schools and local businesses. This cooperation needs to be fuelled by modern technology and modern services that add value for the residents and encourage them to get involved and to invest in the groups and businesses that provide the foundation of the community that they live in.
What is the format for the event?
Party in the Park will feature a stunning line up of top class music acts. The fabulously talented and well known local band 'Soul Fish' will kick the event off in style with their unique brand of high energy Soul and Rhythm & Blues. They will be followed byThe Music of Queen A Rock & Symphonic Spectacular, which features a full rock band and songs from the West End smash hit musical We Will Rock You, combined with an orchestra, performing epic arrangements of Queenshuge hits. The event will conclude witha stunning Proms symphony orchestra playing the full range of memorable classicsconcluding with a fabulous fireworks finale.
How much money do you hope to raise?
Our goal is to raise over 100,000 with all proceeds from tickets and bar sales distributed among local football, cricket and rugby clubs, and to support the Grass Roots Court Theatre at Pendley Manor.
Why were these organisations chosen?
There are many worthy causes in Tring and we wish we could support them all, but that is simply not practical. Grass Roots has a long association which these organisations, each of which plays a vital and significant role in the local community. The sports clubs not only play a vital role in keeping the population of Tring active, they are also social hubs for our community. The theatre, which would not exist without Grass Roots support, offers richness, diversity, enlightenment, opportunity and a breadth of experience, way beyond what would normally be expected in a town of Trings size. We are delighted to continue our support in this way. Furthermore, all beneficiaries have played important roles in bringing Party in the Park to fruition and each is committed to the Spirit of Tring concept.
What price are tickets and how do we get them?
Tickets will be available on the gate at 30 for adults and 20 concessions - but you can get them 5 cheaper online, right up to midday on May 15 atwww.spirit-of-tring.com
