CELEBRITY Chef Andrew Turner, the former BBC newsreader Richard Whitmore and a host of former rugby stars attended one of the largest balls in Hertfordshire on December 5. With more than 400 people in attendance, 16,200 was raised for two local charities The St Ippolyts Primary School and The Queen Mother Theatre Youth Wing Appeal. The ball, which is held every two years, is organised and hosted by Les Jefferies and Hayley King. It is held in Gosmore, Hitchin, and has to date raised more than 150,000 for local causes. For the evening, which has become a must have on the Hertfordshire social scene and has a waiting list for tables, guests were entertained by one of the best bands from London, Lovetrain, who have also in the past performed for Paul McCartney and Zara Philips birthday parties. Guests enjoyed a sit-down four course meal then duly boogied the night away until the small hours. Ball organisers, Les Jefferies and Hayley King said, It never ceases to amaze us that the continued support and generosity given to this event just gets better and better every time!
