One of the countys largest balls, the Hollyball, with over 400 people in attendance was held in the small village of Gosmore near Hitchin, and raised 17,600 for St Ippolyts and Preston primary schools and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance. Event organisers Les Jefferies and Hayley King were overwhelmed by the support from sponsors and friends and the event, held every two years, has so far raised over 250,000 for local causes. In attendance was celebrity chef Andrew Turner who donated a dinner for 12 in the winners home while other guests included Hitchin footballer Jack Wilshere (Arsenal and England) and a host of rugby stars who danced the night away to Hot and Horny, a party band from London.
