'Smart Alecs' quiz night for Willow Foundation
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson thanked SA Law after the law firms annual Smart Alecs quiz night raised 9,500 for the Willow Foundation, the charity he founded in 1999. St Albans-based SA Law had aimed to smash the previous record they had raised for the charity and successfully did so, beating the figure by over 3,000. The Willow Foundation, based in Hatfield, is a national charity that provides special days for 16 to 40-year-olds with life threatening illnesses. The charity was set up by Bob and his wife Megs, in memory of their daughter Anna who died of cancer aged just 31. The quiz pitted 25 teams, comprised of both national companies and local businesses, against each other for six gruelling rounds of questions and a marathon round, with the Arsenal legend taking on the role of quizmaster. Among the competitors were Natwest, Clydesdale and Wenta, with a team put in by Kingston Smith eventually emerging victorious. Watford Football Club hosted the quiz, and entered a staff team, as well as a team made up of Watford Legends all former Watford FC players. Watford legend Ian Bolton also attended and acted as a co-host to Bob Wilson.
