The annual Mayors Civic Banquet and Ball entitled Celebrating Our District Together took place at Sopwell House Hotel, St Albans, on March 18. The event raised nearly 6,600 for the Mayors official charities: Home-Start St Albans City And District and Special Olympics St Albans. This included 2,250 donated by Barclays Bank. The Mayor Cllr Maxine Crawley said, Im delighted with the whole evening. It was so good to see people including St Albans based charities, groups, societies, the High Sheriff, Mayors and Chairs from all over Hertfordshire, local councillors and many more, enjoying themselves. The room looked gorgeous and we had Close Up Magic, an Elvis Cabaret, live music from the fantastic band Number 7 and a superb meal. It was a joy to see so many friends, old and new, whilst raising so much money for my charities. It was an evening to remember.
