Royston’s Newsells Park Stud yearling manager Gerry Meehan has galloped off with a top trophy at a gala evening hosted by the British Horseracing Authority to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards

He was chosen as winner of the Stud Staff Award by a panel of judges who praised his ‘hard work and long-standing commitment to racing’. The award was presented with it by TV sports presenter Clare Balding and special guest presenter and 18-time champion jump jockey AP McCoy.

Meehan also received a cheque for £10,000, of which £5,000 will be shared among the staff at Newsells Park.
