Hertford Heath held its Annual Village fete on Sunday 17th July and again it was another resounding success.

Despite the dreadful weather forecasts we escaped with just a couple of showers whilst other towns nearby had storms. This enabled some 50 stalls and attractions to run. Apart from many local village stalls, there was a Pimms stall, Bouncy Castle and slide, roundabout, coconut shy, beat the goalie, netball, Face Painting, Crafts, Pizza Oven Wagon (first time out for a new local entrepreneur) and a full size Dalek.

In the Arena we held the Village Has Got Talent competition again and had 12 brave and talented contestants showing their skills. The winners were a singing harmony duet Peter Beer and Jenny Newburn.

We also had a Fire Eating performance, Pet Show and Childrens Games.

We finished the afternoon with a Tug of War competition. Initially the children were allowed to pull the Dads and the children won the first round but not the second as a lot more Dads came to the rescue. The kids had a wonderful time.

The event attracted a tremendous turnout and will enable the profits to be distributed among all of the local village organisations.

We look forward to another successful fete again next year.
