The deadline for photographic entries for the Hertford 2012 Calendar has been extended to give photographers the chance to make the most of the sunshine.

The deadline for photographic entries for the Hertford 2012 Calendar has been extended by a fortnight - hopefully providing some better weather for keen photographers to take pictures of Hertford looking its best in the sun.

The new deadline is Sunday 14th August, after which 13 photographs will be selected for inclusion one for each month, and one for the cover of the calendar.Hertford Town Councils Town and Tourist Information Centre is running the competition, which is in its third year.

The Mayor of Hertford, Cllr Sally Newton, will be one of the competition judges, and commented, 'Hertford has a rich source of scenes for photographers to choose from - interesting and historic buildings, beautiful rivers and open spaces, and a wide range of events.

'Ihope photographers of every age and ability will take the opportunity to explore and photograph our town, and help to ensure the 2012 calendar represents the best of Hertford. Many people buy the calendar to send to friends and family at Christmas, so this is also a chance to promote our town as a tourist destination in the year of the London Olympics.'

Photographs must be submitted with an entry form, which can be obtained from Hertford Town and Tourist Information Centre by the Shire Hall, or from www.hertford.gov.uk
