Funding available to Hertfordshire community groups

We live in challenging times, including for the charity sector which is facing big shortfalls. But there is help available.
Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the economy, but a knock-on effect is that charities, which support some of our most vulnerable, are now facing big shortfalls too. With fundraising events cancelled and charity shops shut we look at some of the funding available to support these all important groups in the county.
Hertfordshire Community Foundation Coronavirus Relief Fund
This new fund, created thanks to donations, is available to groups supporting the most vulnerable affected by Covid-19 and the lockdown. These can be individuals or families on a low income facing poverty, those with mental health issues, or older people enduring social isolation. A maximum of £5,000 is available and joint applications are welcomed. The fund has already raised £187,566. To donate or apply, go to hertscf.org.uk
Herts County Council members’ locality budgets
County councillors have an annual budget of £10,000 to spend on projects in their area. Priority is being given to local organisations offering support to anyone affected by Covid-19.
Tesco: Bags of Help Covid-19 Community Fund
Local branches of Tesco are offering grants of up to £500 to charities supporting (but not limited to) women’s refuges, food banks, hospices, homeless charities, social isolation groups and older people. tescoplc.com
National Lottery Community Fund: National Lottery Awards For All
Applications for the next six months will prioritise organisations supporting their local communities affected by the pandemic. The programme offers grants of £300 to £10,000. tnlcommunityfund.org.uk
Sport England Community Emergency Fund
Sport England is offering emergency funding for organisations delivering community sports and physical activities such as clubs, voluntary and community sector organisations or small charities that are experiencing short-term financial hardship due to the pandemic. Funding up to £10,000 is available to cover costs such as rent, insurance and utilities. The fund is available until the end of July. sportengland.org
Standard Life Foundation Coronavirus Pandemic: fast track applications
Funding is available for work directly related to coronavirus, particularly supporting those on low to middle incomes to improve living standards and contribute to social change. standardlifefoundation.org.uk
Bring Joy Foundation
The Keep Busy, Keep Active campaign supports lonely and isolated older people during the current crisis. Community group grants are for activities to entertain individuals including puzzles and books and also shopping vouchers.
