With the arrival of Harry and Meghan's baby boy, Archie, it's clear that royal names are among the most popular in the county for newborn boys

With the arrival of Harry and Meghan's baby boy, Archie, it's clear that royal names are among the most popular in the county for newborn boys. In the year to April, George topped the county council registrations followed by Harry, with William in fourth. Louis (the name of Kate and William's youngest child) was 12th.

In joint third place were Muhammad and Ethan, with eleven registratons each. It's Muhammad's highest position, reflecting the county's increasingly diverse population, said Corinne Edwards, head of registration. She added, 'With Meghan and Harry's new arrival creating greater diversity within the Royal family, this trend is also being reflected in Hertfordshire.'

The top boys names in order of popularity are George, Harry, Muhammad/Ethan, William, Oliver, Noah, Leo, Jack, Oscar, Finley, Louis, Freddie. Royal names also feature in the most popular girl names. The top 13, in order, are Olivia, Isla, Charlotte/Grace (joint third), Poppy, Mia, Sienna, Ruby, Lily, Elsie, Elizabeth, Millie and Eleanor.

A fiver on Archie in the top five next year?
