Thirty members from St Albans triathlon club - Tri-Force had a rare and exciting opportunity to receive coaching from the GE Great Britain triathlon team in a unique GE funded master class held at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre.

Rick Velati, world-class talent coach for British Triathlon teams led the training sessions, which keen Triathletes of all ages and abilities participated in. The session explored intricate techniques involving each of the three disciplines of the sport: swimming, cycling and running.

Participants trained side by side Lucy Hall, 2011 ETUEuropean Duathlon ChampionshipsSilver Medalist and 2011 British Elite Duathlon Champion, Mark Buckingham.

Rick Velati, who has previously worked with two time and current World Champion Helen Jenkins, said, We wanted to introduce the club to a few training drills that our GB elites are executing themselves. We looked at dead turns, drills that improve your running stride and how to train for open water in a swimming pool.

Tri-Force won the GE Master class after crossing the finishing line first as part of a team relay race at this years Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships even in Hyde Park.

The club was exclusively invited to compete on the proposed London 2012 Olympic Triathlon Course after getting involved in the Tri-Twinning Programme; an initiative launched by the GE earlier this year that encourages people to take part in sport in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre is owned by St Albans City and District Council and operated in partnership with Leisure Connection.
