If you want to be in with a chance of receiving superfast fibre optic broadband in your area, make sure you vote in the Race to Infinity competition.

Over the next five years, and as part of the Coalition Governments UK Broadband Strategy, BT Openreach will invest in providing improved broadband networks to many areas of the UK.

Your area may already be part of an announced roll out plan, but if not; the Race to Infinity competition provides an opportunity to fast track your area for investment.

Although only the top five areas in terms of votes received secure the immediate broadband infrastructure improvements in their area, this is also a general survey for consideration when it comes to future infrastructure investments.

David Lloyd, Executive Member for Economic Wellbeing said, 'We want to ensure that Hertfordshire communities are aware of this opportunity and able to take full advantage of it.

'We will be meeting with senior telecommunications people in the New Year and are keen to have a significant percentage of interest registered with this competition by as many Hertfordshire communities as possible, to strengthen our case for investment in our countys broadband.

'We want to spread the word so that as many residents and businesses as possible in Hertfordshire vote to improve the capabilities of their local broadband supply, particularly in hard to reach rural areas.'
