Fitness expert and celebrity trainer Nana Akua (LadyXsize) goes in search of a quick yoga fix

If you love yoga but, like me, haven’t got the patience or time to sit through a whole class – which can often be up to an hour and a half – then why not try YOGAHIIT. It’s a combination of traditional yoga and high-intensity interval training. Devised by Andrea Symons (pictured), an innovative multi-skilled yoga instructor from Bushey, this class is set to be the next big hit, with plans to roll it out across the county.

The class is 45 minutes in duration, so half the length of normal yoga sessions and is suitable for all fitness levels. It starts with a classic yoga warm up, then 10 two-minute intervals in set poses with 30 seconds of rest in between, followed by a yoga cool down to finish. Yogahiit is guaranteed to increase your heart rate, stamina and overall flexibility. The blend of circuit and interval training with classic yoga bodyweight postures is also designed to kick-start your metabolism, aiding fat loss while also helping you gain muscle mass.

Trainer tip.

Having good posture increases your energy levels and lung capacity. You will also engage your abs and feel more awake. So chest out, chin up and shoulders down.
